The 8 starters that were "sat" were stupid enough to show up at their coaches house absolutely stoned to watch film and got busted suspended and or kicked off the team.

The score I heard (before it was even over) was 63-7 MONTESANO. I think it will be awhile before Elma recovers from this stroke of genius by their supposed team leaders. HA HA!!!

Michael must have not been in the grandstands in 2007. I vividly remember that Montesano had an undefeated season, and the Elma Eagles took that title away from them. They had already purchased Leage Champion T-Shirts, but in the end they used them as shop rags. Monte had a star running back, Adam "big" Hill. Even "Big Hill" couldn't stop the Elma Eagles. The comment in the article about "more inspiration, less presperation," should be re-evaluated. Elma won that game in the last quarter. It was very close, and they stuck it out to the end.

Good football teams come and go. During the ninteen sixties, Monte always played Elma during their homecoming--and they always lost. During the last three years, Elma's been in a slump. That'll change eventually.

Oh, and one last thing. There used to be a resturant in the outskirts of Elma called The Airport Diner. When a flood ruined their building, they moved location to Montesano and are now known as The County Seat. I talked to the owner of the resturant, and he mentioned that "by far, Elma is a lot nicer town to do business in. The people are much more friendly."

It has been 44 years since I lived in Monte. What a wonderful family town in which to raise children. People know their neighbors and care about them.
I must say that I am offended by the way you portray the people who call this small town home. It sounds as if you bring a big city perception to your observations. I will always believe that the values found in small town living are not as a rule extended to your city. Too bad you cannot see that.

I graduated from Montesano high school in 1950. I went to all the football games. This brings back old memories. I loved those games.

This particular year was a great one. It started the 31-0 theme that people taunt elma with.
The difference in Monte and Elma is simple. The program and coaching abilities that Monte has are much stronger than that of Elma. Monte has determination, strength and the ability to never stop fighting, but the other team gives up after a certain score has been hit. Maybe one day the two rival schools will really have a game worth watching, but for now my bets are standing with Monte because of what they create on that field and bring to the table. And nobody can beat a small town rivalry. There's nothing better than to watch your alumni win!

The last game that Montesano lost was to Elma in 2005. Monte has never lost a league game since
