Town Hall Community Fund Wants to Subsidize Your Project
Most people don’t get the same sort of mail that I get, and sometimes that’s a damn shame.
Town Hall Seattle, the performance space which hosts some of the most interesting speakers to pass through our sleepy little village, has an open application process which will subsidize three applicants this Spring.
I give you the press release, in full, because only YOU can move your bloomin’ arse:
Town Hall Seattle, through the Town Hall Community Fund (THCF), is offering subsidized performance/presentation opportunities in our Great Hall and Downstairs venues to three artists/presenters, from April-July 2011. THCF makes it easier for community organizations to present their work at Town Hall by offering subsidized production assistance and audience development opportunities to culturally diverse groups. Past collaborators through the Community Fund have included Ragamala, Pratidhwani, Arab American Film Festival, Vela Luka Croatian Dance Group, Casa Latina, El Centro de la Raza, the Vera Project, Turkish American Cultural Association, and many others.
Given Town Hall’s breadth of program-music, dance, poetry, politics, literature, science, health, cultural events-and its mandate to reflect diverse perspectives, these opportunities can range from arts events to lectures, from public forums to community celebrations. Selected projects will receive:
* a five-hour block of fully subsidized space for presentation, daytime or evening, on a date to be mutually determined
* access to Town Hall production staff and inventory
* compensation, to be based on ticket sales
* inclusion in all Town Hall promotional materials (printed calendar, newspaper, website/electronic/social media)
* a full press campaign
* production consultation from Town Hall’s Director of Community Programs
* special technical requirements beyond Town Hall’s production inventory are negotiable, and may be the responsibility of the applicantQualifying projects will advance Town Hall’s commitment to reflect the rich cultural diversity of Seattle and the surrounding region and complement existing Town Hall programs in form and content. We want to offer an opportunity for community organizations to expand their profile and production capacity, feature artists/presenters with a desire to promote their own work, and engage new audiences in the programs at Town Hall. All events must be open to the general public, and sustain Town Hall’s commitment to accessible ticket prices.
Applications will be accepted through February 25, 2011, for productions April-July 2011. To apply, visit http://www.townhallseattle.org/ and fill out the application. Applications may also be mailed to Town Hall Seattle, 1119 8th Avenue, Seattle, WA 98101 or faxed to (206) 652-5858. Please direct all questions to Town Hall’s Director of Community Programs, Paul Rucker at paul@townhallseattle.org.
