Spectrum Dance Theater Takes You into Africa (VIDEO)

Coming March 3rd through the 5th at the Moore Theatre is the latest from choreographer Donald Byrd and Spectrum Dance Theater, The Mother of Us All. Expect a bit of an into-the-looking-glass sensation, warns Byrd. It’s the third part of a triptych (previously SDT has “traveled” to the Middle East and China), and in the 6-minute video above, Byrd explains his process and his interest in “authentic structures”–dance that avoids a pre-curated viewpoint and opens itself up for more heterogeneous interactions.
