Get Baptized on the Seahawks Turf!

Local megachurch Mars Hill is holding their Easter service at Qwest Field on Sunday, and if you think it’s the first time 60,000 people have all prayed at once there, you’re crazy–used to happen every time Brian Russell tried to make an open-field tackle.

All joking aside, this is an amazing opportunity for the football fan who wants to forever link his dedication to Christ with his dedication to the Seahawks: Mars Hill is going to baptize folks right on the field! They want you to sign up ahead of time, but assure you that “spontaneous baptisms will also be welcome.”

Janet Tu of the Seattle Times reports that ten immersion pools [UPDATE: Mars Hill tweets to us that it's now 20 pools!] will be set up for those desiring baptism. A change of clothes will be provided. Note to Mars Hill: If you’re looking for duds on the cheap, the team store has tons of old T.J. Houshmandzadeh jerseys on special.

Mars Hill hopes to draw 20,000 people, which would be the largest single-church service in Washington state history, and a bigger draw than that other archaic ritual that goes on across the street.

  1. Geez, if the Ms could draw 20K, they’d be thrilled. A ghost town yesterday for a pleasant afternoon and a resonably well-played game. They claimed 13K, but I doubt that very much.
