Mark Your Calendar: The SunBreak’s Happy Hour, The Hard Rock’s Rooftop Deck, and You

And before you say, “I’m not going to the Hard Rock Cafe, that’s for tourists,” YOU HUSH YOUR MOUTH AND LOOK AT THAT VIEW. The rooftop deck at the Hard Rock isn’t for tourists (they’re all in the gift shop or ordering meals with their sullen teenage offspring)–no, the Hard Rock’s rooftop deck is a bona fide SunBreak-Certified Summertime Pro-Tip.

So kindly save the date next for next Thursday, July 7th to soak up some sun and happy hour drinks on the deck, in our reserved cabana, no less. Continue reading Mark Your Calendar: The SunBreak’s Happy Hour, The Hard Rock’s Rooftop Deck, and You

ACT’s <em>Pilgrims Musa and Sheri</em> Dream an American Dream

ACT’s Pilgrims Musa and Sheri Dream an American Dream

It’s a good sign, then, that ACT’s Pilgrims Musa and Sheri in the New World (through July 17) is a world premiere. Director Anita Montgomery saw in El Guindi’s script–back when it was just a script, just a workshop, just a festival entrant–the “humor and humility” that keep its exploration of the immigrant experience a personal and affecting story. Three major rock falls and several smaller ones occurred in just the past week, reports the Seattle Times. Finding Sex, Food, and Inspiration in La Figa

Finding Sex, Food, and Inspiration in La Figa

Musical Mystery of the Day: Is Seattle’s Kultur Shock Being Ripped Off By a Turkish Artist?

Kultur Shock has always been mindful of avoiding the Bregović controversy and crediting trad whenever they use it. But now, a Turkish pop singer named Gökçe has released a tune called “Tuttu Fırlattı,” a Turkish transliteration of the phrase “Tutti Frutti,” which is scheduled to appear on her upcoming album this fall. As it happens, the song sounds nearly identical to Kultur Shock’s “Tutti Frutti,” the lead single from their 2004 album Kultura Diktatura, produced by Faith No More’s Billy Gould, whose label Kool Arrow released the album.
