After the concert, Maestro Morlot talked about his stint in the violins section during "Bolero," and explained that his point of doing it was not to show the musicians could "play without leadership," but to symbolize his desire to be seen as one of the musicians, embarking on this journey with everyone else, and not to be just the guy who comes to wave the baton around.

Of course this could only happen in "Bolero," where you can treat it like the Ronco Rotisserie Oven: "Set It and Forget It," which is why Morlot thought doing this for a few minutes wouldn't give off the wrong message that they don't need him.
