I avoid Piecora's on principle, because isn't the owner a big donator to right-wing/anti-choice causes? I seem to remember something like that.

Big Mario's is perfectly fine, especially late night, as long as you don't see the people who made it. Hygiene optional!

I treat Serious Pie in a different category too. Their early happy hour is great.

Piecora's is one that's on my list, as I haven't been there in AGES. I liked it at first, but then it seemed to slip in quality, though that was many years ago. I'm hearing good things about Big Mario's nearby, so maybe two pizzas in one trip.

I like Serious Pie, but I think it's a completely different animal.

As a displaced Jerseyan, I've found mysel in exactly the same dilemma. I was never a pizza person until I moved out here and realized how good we have it back East.

The only remotely New York style pizza I've ever had in Seattle is from Piecora's on Cap Hill at 15th & Pike (or is it Pine?). Their pizza comes complete with the little plastic table centerpieces and ridiculous slices dripping in grease. It's not home, but it's pretty darn close.

(On a tangent: the one niche I really, really don't get is 'artisanal' pizza, like Jet City and Serious Pie. I mean, come on. Don't try 'artisanal' pizza until you can make a damn good regular one, kay, Seattle?)
