It’s no secret that everything looks better in black and white, and the Center for Wooden Boats is no exception. Jeff Blucher’s photos of a stroll through the Seattle location back on New Year’s Day 2008 capture the boats’ simple yet rough beauty, while conveying the “hands on history” that the center promotes. His encounter there with Saaduuts, a Haida native from Alaska, is further proof of a link to the past. To see more of the photos in the real world, head to Cafe Javasti in Maple Leaf to take a look at Jeff’s show that’s currently in progress. Oh, and for a crêpe. Definitely for a crêpe.
