It’s pretty much scientifically-established reality that any music delivered by The Gods Themselves will rule. So big surprise, “COOL,” the sophomore single from the band’s forthcoming full-length Be My Animal, completely rules.
Traces of dub and cocked-eyebrow new wave inform the groove driven by drummer Collin O’Meara’s lean cymbal work, Dustin Patterson’s percolating baritone guitar, and Astra Elaine’s siren-song vocals. The ingredients add up to an irresistibly heady dance track that sounds like something Giorgio Moroder would spin at an extra-sweaty late-70s New York house party. Be My Animal officially drops on January 20. We’ll save our complete assessment until sometime after 2017 gets its ass on the dance floor. Suffice it to say for now that scientifically-established TGT reality once more applies.
In the meantime, once you’ve had a chance to tattoo “COOL” onto your brainspace, get thee over to”Tech Boys,” Be My Animal‘s amazing first single and the most sensual, danceable middle-finger that’s ever been extended in the direction of tech-bro-clogged South Lake Union and environs.
