After being one of the first festivals of 2020 to go into hibernation when confronted with the uncertainty of the Covid-19 pandemic, the Seattle International Film Festival is back for 2021! Running from April 8-18, most films will be available to at-home festival goers through the SIFF website or through the SIFF Channel app on Roku, FireTV, AndroidTV and AppleTV via individual tickets or passes that grant access to wide swaths of the programming. The SunBreak will be diving in to the whole thing; a summary of our ongoing coverage is posted below.
Previews & Roundtables
- Roundtable: It’s Happening Again — SIFF is Virtually Back for 2021: we convene the SunBreak’s Film Team to chat about our first reactions to SIFF 2021
- SIFF 2021: It’s baaaaacccckkkk!: Chris gets hyped for Opening Weekend and shares some highlights of upcoming live events.
- SIFF 2021: What to expect in the week ahead! Morgen previews the special events and highlights of SIFF’s weekday programming
- SIFF 2021 Check In: How’s your fest going?: A survey of the SunBreak SIFF Squad in which we each highlight a favorite from the festival (so far): Who We Are: A Chronicle of Racism in America; East of the Mountains; Censor; Animation4Adults; All Sorts; Mogul Mowgli; This Town
- SIFF 2021: That’s a Wrap: In which we convene a virtual roundtable for a virtual festival, complete with nominations for the always-virtual Golden SunBreak Awards for narratives (East of the Mountains, There Is No Evil, Strawberry Mansion, Mogul Mowgli, 200 Meters), documentaries (Captains of Za’atari and a landslide of support for Who We Are: A Chronicle of Racism in America), and performances (Under the Open Sky, Sweat, Too Far Away, and God Exists, Her Name is Petunia).
