On July 11th at approximately 3:30 a.m. officers responded to a report of a robbery/stabbing at 1st Avenue and Wall Street. Preliminary investigation indicates that the adult male victim was walking home from work. At 1st Avenue and Wall Street there was a group of five males (the suspects) hanging out at the corner. As the victim walked past them one of them asked him for a cigarette. The victim replied that he didn’t have any. The victim was blindsided as the suspects assaulted him from behind. The suspects knocked the victim to the ground and repeatedly kicked him all over his body.
While on the ground, the victim could feel one of the suspects trying to pull his wallet out of his pants pocket. At one point the victim looked up and saw one of the suspects standing over him with a large knife. The suspects fled the scene on foot prior to the arrival of officers.
The victim was not stabbed but sustained a head wound and kicks to his whole body. SFD medics responded to the scene and treated the victim’s injuries. Officers conducted an extensive area search but could not locate the suspects, who remain at large.
