For an all-too-brief moment, it seemed the pets of Whoville Seattle could breathe easy. 2014 would bring a summer without 4th of July explosions in the sky -- always just after sunset, maybe the sun-ball had popped? The pets couldn't say -- and without August's weird overhead shrieking that smells distinctly of jet fuel. But the McGinnch had other plans!

Pyro Spectaculars have another exploding Space Needle show lined up up for you tonight. It's eight minutes long, but here's a tip: it starts before midnight so that the fireworks are blazing when the moment actually happens. Be set up in your crow's nest by 11:50 to be on the safe side. If you plan to watch from the Seattle Center itself, of course, you'll need to be much earlier because of traffic and crowds. Aim for 10:30 p.m.

Grass is Everywhere Right Now

Now that the explosives are packed away, we still have to contend with an insidious foe: grass. AirNOW shows ozone and particulate levels are fine, but the Northwest Asthma and Allergy Center shows grass pollen registering at High ("Most individuals with any sensitivity to these pollens will experience symptoms"). Trees and weeds, not so much.
