Metro plans to replace "up to 141 trolley buses," says Rochelle Ogershok, using a combination of federal and agency capital funds. (Metro's projected service cuts are due to shortfalls in operational funding.) The agency currently runs a fleet of 159.

All-in-One Seattle Transit-Tracker Busdrone Now on Android

Busdrone is the handiwork of Andrew Filer, drawing on a number of existing data sources. More recently, as part of the National Day of Civic Hacking, while Filer made more improvements to the desktop version, Eric Butler ported Busdrone to Android. (Android is here; no iOS yet.)

Thanks to a commenter at Seattle Transit Blog, we can alert you to the existence of the cheekily-named busdrone, a Google map initially overlaid with Sound Transit's and King County Metro's real-time feeds, so you could watch buses beetle about the city for amusement, and possibly travel-related purposes. Now it's got SLU streetcar and Washington State Ferries, too.

When people tell horror stories, it’s always about their last trip of the night, or their last day on the route. You can’t check out early. People can sniff that a mile away. You’ve gotta stay on, right there with everyone, until you pull back into base and turn the motor off."
