Seattle Public Library Has Got Your Netflix-Style Streaming Right Here

Seattle Public Library has gone, well, public with their streaming media partnership with Hoopla. The collection -- of movies, TV shows, albums, and audio books -- is Hoopla's, which is why I'm watching African Queen. They have 10,000 films and TV titles, Netflix has 60,000.

You may not think you'd need extra soundproofing in a library, but you wouldn't be taking into consideration the "tour guides on the Observation Deck," or "fistfights echoing from somewhere down on the fifth floor." A central portion of Powell's article, in fact, has to do with the daily use of the public library by homeless and mentally ill people.

Seattle Public Library Now Lets You Check Out a Museum (Pass) for Free

The Seattle Public Library's new Museum Pass program lets you use your library card to check out free museum passes. You're allowed one pass per week to any participating museum, but you have to wait 30 days to go back to one you've already visited. (It's one pass per library card, as well.)
