Any band with a lead singer who leans on a squeeze box and sings lyrics about (among other things) hard-luck cases viewing their lives through the bottom of a shotglass is all right by me; especially if the band's as all-around wonderful as Seattle's The Bad Things.

The West Seattle Summerfest (taking over West Seattle's Junction this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday) has been kicking it every July for 29 years, and it's easily one of the best free festivals in these parts. This season, the 'Fest showcases an embarassment of riches, event-wise.
