I’ve seen Garfield twice now, because I wanted to confirm a feeling I had in the first game I saw–that they are a much more enjoyable team to watch now that superstar Tony Wroten has left for college. As Washington Husky fans now know, Tony Wroten provides instant scoring and spectacular athleticism, but he’s not very good at sharing the ball or getting open looks for his teammates. The high schools of the Seattle/Eastside Kingco League have this strange ritual, which future anthropologists will struggle to understand. In the fall, the Eastsiders destroy the Seattleites in football. Then, in the winter, the Seattleites eviscerate the Eastsiders in basketball. They Won’t Win a Title, But Washington and Seattle U Basketball Will Be Damn Fun to Watch

On the bright side, both teams will be highly enjoyable to watch. This is not exactly coincidental, as Seattle U head coach Cameron Dollar was formerly an assistant under UW coach Lorenzo Romar. Both share an affinity for fast-paced offense and aggressive defense, a combination that leads to high-energy, high-scoring games.
