Seattle Central Railway Co. car number one at Second and Pike, 1880

Bold prediction (postdiction?): No one ever called this streetcar a SLUT, even if you can totally see its ankles. Many thanks to the Seattle Municipal Archives for sharing this and so many other photos of olden-time (and not-so-olden-time) Seattle.

(By the way, the Municipal Archives are an official part of Seattle's bureaucracy--and they're in the SunBreak Flickr pool. If you're not already a member, you certainly should be. Join us!)

While at the same time, Company is CO. Is an abbreviation just any random pair of letters?
