Open UP is a speaking/discussion forum for people to share their projects and learn how using open source principles and Creative Commons licenses can help them to more effectively collaborate with other like-minded people to build better businesses, lives and communities.
Each Open UP event will feature a variety of speakers who will each get five minutes to present their project and five minutes for Q&A.
All talks will then be uploaded to the Open UP archive for the world to see. After the talks there will be an open discussion where people can network and learn more about incorporating open source ideas and principles into their work. This project is an extremely exciting opportunity for cross pollination and discussion of Open Source Ideals.
Come and join us for the first Open Up Speakers forum on Wednesday, August 18, where we will explore open source ideals can supply solutions to real world problems. Talks will focus on education, maker spaces, social networks, global community building, and open business models. Visit our site, where we will be posting the video's from the evening as well as other information pertaining to the project.
Thank you for your support, and we look forward to see you at the first Open Up.
Co-working SPACE is not your normal office. It's a community.
Co-working offices is a movement to create a community of collaborative spaces for developers, freelances and independent business owners. Co-working spaces are creative places where people with different skills can come together and work side by side for inspiration. Coworking is also a great opportunity for travelers coming through Seattle to have a temporary workstation and for a temporary office.
There is a new Co-working Venue in Greenwood opening this month at SPACE Venue and Education Center.
Co-working SPACE is located in the heart of Greenwood / phinney and is centerly located across from a few restaurants and grocery stores. Co-working SPACE also provides free wi fi access and printing. There are work stations at tables, and a large table space for private meetings with clients with no extra charge (but scheduling must be made)
Co working is an amazing movement in creating community for individual workers. It's exciting that Seattle will have yet another space and that it is centrally located for the Greenwood Community
- Poetic Vibrations: An Evening with Christen Lien and guests Isaac Cotec, Christen Lien, and Emily Lauderback, at SPACE Venue and Education Center (7601 Greenwood Ave N), on May 6, 2010, from 7-10 p.m. Admission is $20 at the door.
[Ed. note: After possibly one too many cups of chamomile tea, someone sent us this announcement:]
We would love to invite you to an elegant evening of breathtaking music and an exploration of synesthetic state through taste, art, and Poetic Vibrations. On May 6, Christen Lien will be gracing us with a live performance employing a unique interweaving of viola and guitar effects to express stories that delve into the depths of human.
Writer Camilla Griggers has said "Not since Sigur Ros’s Jon Thor Birgisson have we seen an original musical genius of this nature. Christen Lien exudes an exalted vibration meant to lead us home in an historical moment that marks the end of empire and the beginning of a new dream of consciousness."
The opening of the evening will be catalyzed by a performance from Satori Laural and Isaac Cotec. Poet and performance artist Jody Levy will make a guest appearance during Christen's set to perform sets of poetry while Christen accompanies. Known for delighting audiences with the sensual power of language, Jody ignites and showcases why language is a force for communion and creation.
*Proceeds go to support Christen Lien's ability to travel and share her message, as well as to further development of SPACE as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit.
