Flowers Power Sales for Mother's Day Weekend

Saturday's Volunteer Park plant sale was thanks to the Friends of the Conservatory and Parks & Rec.

I feel terrible for not mentioning the Friends of the Conservatory flower sale at Volunteer Park earlier, and now you've missed it. It was today only, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. However, there are at least two big flower extravaganzas going on all weekend: the Pike Place Market Flower Festival and McLendon Hardware's 84th Anniversary Flower Sale.

Tomorrow afternoon Ciscoe Morris answers gardening questions down at the Pike Place festival, beginning at 1:30 p.m. (If you don't know who Ciscoe is, you're not a real Northwest gardener and should shamefacedly make your way to the back of the comments section.) 30 flower farmers are ready to take your money, along with Marshland Orchards, who have brought plant starts.

For stopping in at McLendon's, you might get a free tomato plant (quantities are limited). 4-in. geraniums are just $2.47, bedding plants are just $0.92, and a two-gallon pot of blueberries is just $16.88. I get no commission, they're not an advertiser, but if you end up with extra blueberries, you know who to call.
