Last Thursday, Smoking Popes opened for Alkaline Trio at El Corazon. It was a very hot and sweaty punk rock show, and was probably the most packed I have seen El Corazon in quite a while. Smoking Popes played a good mix of both old songs and stuff from their new album This Is Only A Test. Alkaline Trio then came out and played favorite after favorite for the packed crowd. About halfway through the set, they switched to mostly acoustic instruments. The highlight had to have been when they invited the Smoking Popes back on stage to play a cover of the Violent Femmes’ “I Held Her in My Arms.”
Oh also, if you were paying attention, you should have noticed Mike Park was in the crowd! Pretty awesome.
Lots of pictures from the show below!
