There's still no answer to the potentially myth-building riddle that is Who Will Land the Title Role in That Kurt Cobain Biopic? But one name is no longer in the hat, if it ever was to begin with: Team Edward captain Robert Pattinson.

It's not that RPattz is too busy sucking on Kristen Stewart, that his filming schedule's too packed, or that he's Cobain-ignorant. The Nirvana fan—a dime says his favorite song is "Drain You"—essentially pulled himself out of potential contention by calling Cobain's long-self-suffering widow Courtney Love a "dick" for saying that he, Twilight Boy, would be "stupid" and "just wrong" as Kurt. "No offense," she finished. Apparently there was some taken.

While this sucks for tweens and budding cougars, it's a cause for celebration for Nirvana fans. No one would possibly see a smidgen of Cobain's soul through Pattinson's eyebrows. (He does have the pale, thin thing going for him. But no naturally disheveled, seemingly aloof gravitas.)

It's also a good thing for one Mr. Zac Efron. If you're at all familiar with the ongoing efforts to silver screen-ize Charles Cross' Heavier than Heaven, with this picture, or with Kurt Cobain's regrettably slim oeuvre, you know there's no living being better suited to portray Cobain than Efron. (I've been calling for this inevitable casting decision for years, lastly on February 21. The video above was posted February 26. Is someone really listening?) He exudes dangerous duality. He simply oozes self-loathing. And who would look better in flannel?...

Since releasing her ultra-ridic short film for "Telephone" and announcing the next bejeweled leg of her North American Monster Ball tour, Lady Gaga has been sued by (and countersued) her former producer/boyfriend. Her erstwhile bassist is also accusing her of not paying him royalties. The crazies at FOX News claim that she has outed herself as gay. And that's not even getting into the next-level crazies, who offer further evidence for LaGa being a puppet of the Illuminati. Yowza.

But more importantly, Lady Gaga has added a bunch of dates to her tour. All three nights at Madison Square Garden are sold out, and she's added additional shows in Vancouver, Toronto, Boston, and San Jose.  Closer to home, tickets to the previously announced Tacoma Dome show, set for August 21st, will go on sale this Friday at 10 a.m.

Full press release after the jump.

Seattle, WA – Live Nation welcomes The Monster Ball Tour Starring LADY GAGA to Tacoma Dome on Saturday, August 21, 2010.

Live Nation, the international tour promoter for Lady Gaga’s The Monster Ball tour presented by Virgin Mobile, has confirmed due to exuberant fan demand, an additional 7 Monster Ball concert dates have been added to the previously announced North American itinerary. On Friday, sales were so brisk that a 3rd and final show was added in New York. Quick to follow were sell outs in Toronto, Vancouver and San Jose who have also now confirmed 2nd shows in each city. In Los Angeles, to ensure Lady Gaga fans had the best possible access to tickets a 2nd performance was announced prior to Saturday’s on sale and both Staples Center concerts are also now completely sold out.  This morning the July 1st performance in Boston also sold out with a 2nd performance now confirmed for that city as well.

With Lady Gaga’s flair for the theatrical, combined with her innovative and creative spirit, The Monster Ball Tour promises to push the limits of the live concert experience, bringing fans a spectacle even more eye-popping than what they experienced before.

"It's still called Monster Ball, but it's more of a musical and less of a concert,” Lady Gaga said in a February interview with KIIS-FM’s Ryan Seacrest. “It has a New York theme, it's a story, and the story is that me and my friends are in New York and we're going to the Monster Ball, and we get lost."

Lady Gaga is touring in support of The Fame Monster, which was released on November 18th, 2009, by Streamline/Konlive/Cherrytree/Interscope. The album is the follow-up to 2008’s Grammy Award-winning album The Fame, which spawned the No. 1 singles “Just Dance” and “Poker Face.” Combined, The Fame and The Fame Monster have sold 10 million albums worldwide, while Lady Gaga’s five singles, “Just Dance,” “Poker Face,” “Lovegame,” “Paparazzi,” and “Bad Romance,” have sold more than 30 million singles worldwide. The video for “Bad Romance” has racked up more than 125 million online views.  Lady Gaga recently premiered the video for her new single “Telephone,” featuring Beyoncé, on the E! television network and entertainment website VEVO.

As sponsor of the North American Monster Ball Tour, Virgin Mobile customers will have access to presale tickets.  “We are excited to take our partnership with Lady Gaga and The Monster Ball Tour to another level,” said Bob Stohrer, VP of Marketing for Virgin Mobile USA. “We'll also build on our partnership around combating youth homelessness and continue to enhance the tour experience for fans and our customers.”  For details visit www.virginmobileusa.com.

Fresh off the high heels of last week's release of "Telephone"--the ten-minute long-form music video/pop culture event/homage to Quentin Tarantino (everything you need to know about it is contained in this in-depth discussion from The Awl)--Lady Gaga has announced another pantless leg of her North American Monster Ball tour.

This time around, the tour still doesn't hit Seattle proper (why, Gaga, why?), but you can meet up with all the other Monsters and catch the sure-to-be-ridic stage show at the Tacoma Dome on August 21st, Portland's Rose Garden on August 19th, and the General Motors Place in Vancouver, BC on August 23rd.  Tickets for some of the shows (including Vancouver) start on Friday, March 19th; the on-sale dates for the rest (including Tacoma and Portland) are not yet announced.

INTERNATIONAL POP SUPERSTAR LADY GAGA ANNOUNCES 2010 NORTH AMERICAN TOUR

Virgin Mobile Presents

THE MONSTER BALL TOUR

STARRING LADY GAGA

Tickets Go On Sale Beginning March 19th at LiveNation.com

LOS ANGELES – March 15, 2010 – Lady Gaga, one of the most exciting and innovative new artists in recent history, has announced her highly anticipated return to North America on the heels of her sold-out European tour. The 2010 North American leg of The Monster Ball Tour, presented by Virgin Mobile, will begin on June 28th at Montreal’s Bell Centre, taking her spectacular show to 31 top arenas and a host of new cities in the U.S. and Canada throughout the summer and fall.

In keeping with Lady Gaga’s flair for the theatrical, as well as her innovative and creative spirit, the second leg of the tour promises to push the limits of the live concert experience, bringing fans a spectacle even more eye-popping than what they experienced during the thrilling first leg of The Monster Ball.

Critics around the world raved about the first leg of The Monster Ball Tour, which Gaga described as “the first-ever pop-electro opera.” The Sun called it “breathtaking stuff” and “the best live show you will see this year,” while London’s Independent wrote: “Gaga’s got it, which is why, right now, the whole pop world wants to take a ride on her disco stick.”  Writing about her show at Radio City Music Hall, the New York Times’ noted that “her Monster Ball tour always provided something worth a snapshot: a sci-fi tableau, perhaps, or a skimpy, glittery costume. The more her image gets around, the better Lady Gaga does.”

Live Nation Global Touring is the International tour promoter and producer for The Monster Ball under the direction of Arthur Fogel, CEO Global Touring and Chairman – Global Music Live Nation who said: “Lady Gaga has set out to revolutionize pop music and with her new production she continues to do exactly that.  We’re thrilled to take The Monster Ball to fans around the world.”

Lady Gaga is touring in support of The Fame Monster, which was released on November 18th, 2009, by Streamline/Konlive/Cherrytree/Interscope.
