Monday morning means another peek at the SunBreak Flickr pool. After a wet and dreary Sunday, we’re skipping ahead in the “April Showers Bring May Flowers” cliche to remind ourselves of all of the gray-countering color that has already appeared on trees and gardens this year. While it’s always nicer to see the blossoming trees against a clear blue sky backdrop, we’ll take whatever we can get to remind us that it’s springtime in Seattle.
Send us your best looks at our city’s emerging color scheme by contributing to our reader-powered Flickr pool!
Time once again for a SunBreak Flickr pool slideshow. This time we’re taking in Gasworks Park, one of the city’s most beautiful and popular remediated toxic legacy sites. Well, mostly remediated: “Access to Lake Union is restricted at Gas Works Park, as the lake sediment contains hazardous substances. Entering the water or launching boats from the park is prohibited (SMC 18.12.070) There is no swimming, no fishing and no wading in the park.” Okay, somewhat remediated, oozing tar aside. Anyway, it’s nice to look at.
One of the best things about the The SunBreak are the photographic contributions we find in our Flickr pool. Now that we have a new look and layout, we’re taking our Glimpses posts to a weekly format, and will build them around themes. One week we might highlight a particular photographer, the next, the search results for “yellow.” Feel free to suggest ideas. We’re going to kick things off with these glimpses of “spring.”
