An eclectic crowd came out to The Showbox Thursday evening for Seattle RAW:natural born artists. More than 40 local artists were featured from all genres in a one-night event.
RAW artists is a Los Angeles based arts organization whose mission is “to provide independent artists with the tools, resources and exposure needed to inspire and cultivate creativity.” They do this both online and offline through bimonthly showcases in 80+ locations across the country.
The 2014 Seattle Season Premiere showcased the city and state’s diversity, ranging from the recognizable black and white images of Macklemore by Cassandra Moses to Olympia’s man-legging and furry pink boots duo Elbow Coulee. Even while tucked away into the back corner, Duncan Smith’s images of rural Latin America were (by far) the star of the night.
