The Fremont Fair has always been known for its “free-spirited” nature, so adding a gated attraction after 43 years seems almost…un-Fremont like. However, by dusk, the naked hippies had biked home and the peddlers had packed away their wares, so no one seemed to mind the two-steppin’ crowd beyond the the fences.  An impressive group of headliners footed the bill, including Pacific Northwest favorites Built to Spill and local synth-pop trio (and Questlove approved) The Flavr Blue. The two-day affair was split by genre; Friday night was devoted to rock and Saturday to hip-hop with Blue Scholars concluding the concert series. This was a big deal because even for being a Seattle-bred duo, Blue Scholars don’t really play that many local shows. Their fresh performance made you forget that Prometheus Brown and Sabzi have been making music since 2002.   The Fremont Fair Solstice Concerts didn’t skimp on quality in its inaugural year. Here are a few photos I was able to snap from the crowds.
